We finally made it in to meet everyone today! Owen is 7 weeks old and LOVED listening to all the voices and looking around at all the new faces 💙 #mrsdentscarcello #lifeinroom4 #owenscarce
Last day with these monkeys! It's been a great year! #mrsdentscarcello #lifeinroom4
Welcome to our community! We created this tour of our local community. We hope you enjoy it!
After exploring what we have in our community, we each chose one feature to share. We wrote our scripts and recorded in front of a green screen. Then we added a picture in the background and voila!
We had an assembly about respect and kindness today. We talked about how we can greet others respectfully and that can make them feel good. We will also use these shout out cards to tell other kids we appreciate them being kind and respectful to us. Then they will get posted on the "throw kindness" bulletin board! #lifeinroom4 #mrsdentscarcello
This month it was our turn to host the assembly! If we wanted to we could have speaking parts to emcee the assembly. We shared the community tour green screen video that we made in social studies! We also sang "I Love a B OO K" for the school. A teacher in our school division named Celeste Krochak wrote the song and recorded it and we learned it from her cd. Then at the end the whole school did Drop Everything and Read. We did a great job at hosting the assembly and sharing our project! ~ The Kids in Room 4 :)
No matter what the season or temperature is, if there's an opportunity to go outside there is a soccer game to be played at recess. Interesting ball tracks in the fresh snow today! #lifeinroom4 #mrsdentscarcello
To celebrate what is special about each of us and our families, we brought in a recipe that has created good memories in our family. Each of us thought about why this recipe is special and shared when we usually enjoy it. We put our collection together in a book, check it out! {This view has slightly changed the book. Grade 1 and I explored objects and materials. The kids had a great time
building and creating as they explored. They designed marble runs as their
final creation which was amazing to see! They used recycled materials to
develop a trail for the marble to take. They also had to revise their plans as
they went and learned what worked and what didn’t. They are a wonderful bunch
of inventors!
We hosted the assembly today! Lots of us wanted to speak in front of the school to help emcee! At the end we had a school-wide DEAR ❤️📚 #lifeinroom4 #mrsdentscarcello
We made candy catapults at our Valentine's Day party today! We worked with a partner to see how many times in a row we could catch a candy. It was super fun! #mrsdentscarcello #lifeinroom4 #stem
We did bleeding heart art. First we drew overlapping hearts and then used watercolour to paint them. The colours from each heart bled into the other hearts beside it. ❤️#lifeinroom4 #mrsdentscarcello
We have a reading goal. We want to read, as a whole group (read alouds) 30 books before spring break! After Christmas we decided to set a goal and track it using www.goodreads.com. When we finish a book we rate it and write a review. You can see our reviews over there --> along the side of our blog. We finished a chapter book last week so this week we spent some time reading picture books we were interested in. Now it is time to start another chapter book. In the past, grade 2's have enjoyed hearing other books by Kate DiCamillo so we are going to give this one a try. Before we started we watched this book trailer:
Today Matea made this stop motion video! I have a feeling once we share this there will be a few other eager little ones at my door! Great job, Matea!
When I got home and was finalizing the video to post, my kids were watching with me. Emily is 3.5 and Oliver is almost 2. They wanted to keep watching it over and over. I suggested we make our own video just like the Lego one. So we did! This is Emily's stop motion:
